The Catty Shack Ranch is one of the most original attractions of the Jacksonville Florida area. Very rarely do you see a place like this survive out “in the wild” per se. It’s a 503c non-profit organization that is run as a reservation/sanctuary for large cats like Lions and Tigers.

Over the years the Catty Shack has vacillated between the #1 and the #2 top attraction in Jacksonville according to Trip Advisor. It has over 1,400 reviews on Trip Advisory, most of them being 4+ stars. The location is easily accessed from Duval, St Johns, Nassau and Putnam counties in Florida. It’s less than an hour away from these locations.

The Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Reserves stated mission is to provide a safe, loving and forever home to endangered big cats and to educate the public about their plight in the wild and in captivity. The ranch rescues cats from serious life threatening situations and keeps them forever in as close to their natural habitat as is possible to achieve. What’s amazing is that the Catty Shack Ranch does not purchase or lease any of their residents. It’s all rescues. Imagine like a humane society for large cats.

The Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary is also run 100% by volunteers. 100% of it’s employers are unpaid volunteers. They are a donations based organization, so the community helps them to survive, and sustains their immense popularity.
